Who loves Jesus? You do! If you want to strengthen your relationship with your partner, consider praying together. Praying is just talking to God. It doesn’t have to be long or flowery or peppered with words like “thee” and “thou”. Praying together can be simple and can bring you closer to your significant other and bring even more abundance to your life.
Find a time of day that works for both of you to pray together. Some people find it easier to get up a little earlier; others find it easier to pray before going to bed. If you’re in a long-distance relationship or one of you is out of town, you can even pray over the phone.
Remember all the wonderful things God has done for you, as an individual and as the dynamic duo that you are. Thank Him for your family, health, home, job, the beautiful flowers blooming, your partner, the sun shining, or anything! Let it all hang out!
Don’t just pray for others; pray for yourself as well. God helps those who help themselves. So don’t be afraid to speak up for what you want! However, it’s not enough to just pray, you have to believe that you will get what your heart desires. Pray with the belief that God hears you and is answering your prayers. Thank Him for your blessings before He gives them to you.
At the same time, keep any gripes about your partner to yourself. Your prayer sessions together shouldn’t be a time to bring up your partner’s weaknesses. This is when the two of you are most vulnerable and you need to be the most sensitive to each other’s feelings. Thank God for your partner. Ask Him to suggest ways you can love and support each other more. As you pray together, you will become more and more unified in your thoughts and desires.
As they say, “let go and let God”. Let Him take all your problems, baggage, and issues and deal with him. Let go of your jealousies, mistrust, guilt, shame, fear, and doubt, and let him have it. God will take care of all of it for you if you let Him.
In the beginning, only one of you might speak, but over time, if you feel more comfortable you can take turns. The more you do it, the more organicprayer together will become. And the more crucial it will become in your life keeping your relationship rock solid for years to come.
